OUR MISSION:
The steel industry has undergone significant changes over the past two decades, driven by technological innovations, economic challenges, and an increasing focus on sustainability. The control of emissions during the steel making process is a big challenge. Worldwide regulations will constrain and affect the efficiency of steelmaking. In EAF steelmaking, huge energy and power savings can be achieved with scrap preheating systems. Various technologies have been developed to effectively preheat the scrap by the exhaust gas.
Scrap preheating is a key technology for maximizing energy efficiency in electric arc furnaces. In recent years, innovative technologies have emerged that allow for the preheating of scrap before melting. This often involves utilizing waste heat or new infrared processes that reduce energy consumption and enhance production efficiency. These methods have the potential to cut energy consumption by up to 25%, which not only offers economic benefits but also leads to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. In this respect, KR Tec invented / patented an environmentally friendly and highly efficient “KR MELT” scrap preheating system superseding today’s technologies.
The transition to green steel and advancements in scrap preheating in electric arc furnaces are crucial steps in this direction. It remains to be seen how quickly this transformation will progress, but the will and necessity for change are undeniable.
